Equipping Students for Success with GSI's Qatar College Readiness Program

What Is College Readiness?

Attending an institute specializing in post secondary qualifications is quite different from any schooling students would have experienced before. At this stage in their education, learners are expected to manage themselves more autonomously. This can be daunting, particularly as the level and complexity of work increases.

The GSI recognizes

The GSI recognizes that adjusting to this next step is a major one, and may be particularly challenging. That is why we offer support for each of our new students – and those who have recently completed high school – in the form of our Qatar College Readiness Program. The program prepares high school students by giving them a taste of what’s to come, allowing them to adjust more easily to campus life.

Here’s a list of the programs and support we offer…

Subject selection
Setting of academic goals
Building proficiency in English and Mathematics
Preparing for the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) and Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) exams
Preparing for the United States’ college entrance exams, such as the Scholastic Assessment Test (SAT) and American College Testing (ACT)

Why Being Prepared is Crucial

For those leaving home for the first time to take the next step in their journey, the transition as a college student can be stressful. At GSI, we believe that preparation is key in overcoming this challenge, as it ensures a much greater chance of successful graduation.

Readiness Program

We invite all learners and participants in our Qatar College Readiness Program to spend time with us on campus, so they have an idea of what each day will look like. Here, they can experience the GSI facilities and speak with our academic counsellors to understand what to expect from their courses.

international partner institutes

Students planning to relocate to one of our international partner institutes through GSI, to complete their qualification, will get to learn more about their college of choice. They will also have the opportunity to speak with campus faculty to understand more about their new homes. For Qatari nationals, this is especially important, with the customs in other countries differing to those locally. Conversely, for the international students coming our way, we give them all the information they need to know about living in Qatar.
